A Patient’s Guide to Worker’s Compensation & Pain Management

Avosant Surgical Associates specialize in treatment of workers’ compensation injuries and pain management treatment. Our AAAHC accredited on-site surgical facility, the Rexford Surgical Institute (RSI), is specifically designed for pain management treatments and surgery and includes state of the art techniques and equipment commonly required to treat work-related pain management injuries. In addition, our staff is highly experienced in California workman’s compensation care and is dedicated to successfully meeting our patients’ needs by providing and managing individualized treatment plans and realistic solutions.

If your injury is work-related, your employer is required by law to pay for workers’ compensation benefits. Workers’ compensation insurance provides several basic benefits including medical care, supplemental job displacement benefits or vocational rehabilitation, temporary or permanent disability benefits, and death benefits. Workers’ comp is a no-fault system and patients do not need proof that their injury was someone else’s fault in order to receive these benefits.

Our goal at Avosant Surgical Associates is to treat, rehabilitate, reduce the risk of re-injury and restore the patient to a healthy and functionally pain-free state as quickly as possible. In order to help you return to work safely and in a timely manner, our staff is dedicated in addressing all of your concerns and maintaining communication with your employer and workers’ compensation insurance carrier. Timely medical status reports are sent concerning your evaluation, diagnosis and treatment plan and return-to-work status.

There are several specific actions you can take that will help us with this process:
1. Bring appropriate documentation with you including:
  • Pre-authorization or letter of referral from your employer or primary treating physician
  • Worker’s compensation insurance carrier’s information (name, address, telephone number)
  • Worker’s compensation claim number
  • Valid driver’s license or picture ID
  • Employer’s information (name, address, telephone number)
2. All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
3. If the patient is hearing impaired or needs translation in some language other than English, Farsi or Spanish, please notify us in advance so that we may arrange for an interpreter.
